Ingredients

- 5 onions

- 15 g of flour

- 100 g of grated cheese (gruyere)

- 30 g of butter

- 1 liter of water

- Salt and pepper

How to

1. I peel and slice finely onions.

2. In a saucepan, I bring to a boil 1 liter of water.

3. I melt the butter over low heat in a large saucepan. Then I add the onions.

4. I stir regularly for 10 min always over low heat (the onions should become translucent).

5. I then add the flour and mix.

6. I pour the contents of a ladle of boiling water into my preparation, I whisk then incorporate the rest of the boiling water.

7. I salt and pepper and simmer over medium heat for 15 min.

8. I preheat the oven to 180°.

9. I pour the soup into 4 ovenproof bowls and place a slice of toasted bread (in the toaster or in the oven) on each of them.

10. I sprinkle with grated cheese and let brown for 10 min.

Result

There you go, my onion soup is already ready :-)

Easy, right?

All that remains is to serve as soon as it comes out of the oven!

This is the ideal recipe in the middle of winter.

It's simple, good and economical.

Bonus tip

There are several variations of this traditional recipe .

You can, if you wish, replace the water with chicken broth.

It is also possible to flavor the soup with thyme and bay leaf.
