Stale bread is fine for chickens. But personally, on a table, I'm not a big fan.

I much prefer a crusty baguette... However, I'm not the type to go down to the bakery every morning.

For a long time, I was content to offer my husband crackers when neither he nor I had the courage to go down and buy fresh bread.

And then one day, I had a revelation:if you freeze just about every dish imaginable, why not bread ?!

Every time I buy bread, I cut the baguettes in half, and freeze them as is . Do not keep it in the fridge, it is toxic.

Sometimes I even buy them by 10. I keep one for the day and freeze all the others. This saves having to go back to the bakery every day.

According to my baker, the two rules for having good frozen bread are:quality, traditional bread and bread that is still fresh. I now understand the interest of taking advantage of the offers 3 baguettes bought, one free from your baker when there are only 3 of you at home.

Now you wonder how to defrost bread? Easy!

When I want to eat my bread, I take out the frozen piece, put it under running water and put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Great tip for defrosting a baguette quickly in the microwave! Just let it cool for a few minutes before using it like fresh bread. And I guarantee you that the taste is great !

My mother suggested to me the technique of the traditional oven which prevents the bread from softening like with the microwave. She removes her bread from the freezer 30 min before and reheats it in the oven for about 5 min for a hot and crispy bread every time. This is probably the best way to thaw frozen baguette.

Another nice trick to thaw a baguette is to anticipate and take out your bread in the morning for lunch or the day before for the next morning. Thawing at room temperature keeps bread as fresh as possible.
