My homemade Christmas truffles, a delicious and economical recipe.

My homemade Christmas truffles, a delicious and economical recipe.

Do you want to treat your guests for Christmas? With this ultra-simple truffle recipe, it will be done in no time!

You haven't bought your Christmas chocolates yet and you are reluctant to do so because of the incredible prices?

Why not start making your own truffles?

Like disguised fruits or beggars, it is very easy to make homemade truffles.

Inexpensive ingredients

You will need 250 g of chocolate, 2 egg yolks, 145 g of butter, and a teaspoon of coffee. You will also need about 80 g of bitter cocoa to cover the truffles.

With these quantities, I make about forty truffles, which is more than enough for my whole little family. If you make the recipe at home, you will find that you can make more or fewer truffles depending on the size you give them.

A simple recipe

Melt the chocolate and butter over low heat. Off the heat, add the egg yolks and stir well. Add the coffee (to enhance the flavor of the chocolate) and leave to harden for about 8 hours.

When the dough is very hard, shape small balls of chocolate, which you then roll in the cocoa.

Place in an airtight box, where your truffles will keep for about 20 days.

Chocolatiers take advantage of the holidays to sell us truffles and other chocolates at exorbitant prices. This recipe, in addition to being easy, is really economical, since it takes roughly 3.5 euros to make it.

In stores, a box of 20 truffles will cost you 3 euros if you take bad chocolate (!) and around 10 euros minimum if you want good quality chocolates (truffles display around 115 euros per kilo. ..) No doubt, your savings are real!

And to make sure you don't spoil anything, why not use leftover egg whites to make meringues? With this trick, no mess!
