Original and Cheap:My Daisy Cake for the Aperitif!

Are you skeptical? But no, I assure you, it's excellent! Here is a most original recipe that amazes my guests at aperitif time:my daisy cake!

Certainly, I grant you, cooking flowers also seemed to me to say the least absurd. I even dabbled before confessing to my guests the major ingredient of my cake. But when the last crumb of my cake was engulfed to thunderous applause, I unveiled my recipe!

What I Need for 8 Parts

Original and Cheap:My Daisy Cake for the Aperitif!

  • 1 bowl of chopped daisies
  • 5 to 6 carrots
  • 3 eggs
  • 250g flour
  • 125 g of sugar
  • 1 packet of yeast
  • 100 cl sunflower oil
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

My Preparation in 5 steps

Preparation:20 min - Cooking:45 min

1. I mix in a bowl and in this order:my flour, my sugar, my yeast, my oil and finally my eggs.

2. I spice up my preparation with my cinnamon.

3. I add my carrots, grated beforehand, then my daisies. I arrange them in a very homogeneous way.

4. I pour everything into a buttered cake pan.

5. I bake 45min on the bottom plate of my oven.

Do not forget to check the cooking of your cake with the blade of a knife which must come out dry if it is ready!

My Bonus Tip

You can also try the salty version by replacing the sugar with salt and pepper, and adding bacon bits. Success guaranteed!

And the Cost?

  • 5 to 6 carrots:€0.90
  • 3 eggs:€0.75
  • 250 g of flour:€0.40
  • 1 sachet of yeast of 10 g:€0.15
  • Cinnamon:around €2 for the measuring bottle but we will only use 1/2 teaspoon, i.e. barely a few grams!)

My original daisy cake will cost me €0.52 for 1 person or at €4.20 for 8 guests.
