4 products we might not be able to eat soon

You have probably heard that the quino farmers can hardly cope with the demand, but did you know that there are more products that we may not be able to eat in a few years?

Avocado
In California, 95 percent of all avocados in America grow. The state is facing a severe drought. And that while avocados need water:to grow half a kilo of avocados, 265 liters of water are needed. In addition, the demand for avocados has increased in recent years and that combination can cause problems.

Chocolate
We eat more chocolate than is made and that cannot go on for years. The world is heading for a chocolate shortage, NOS headlined in mid-November. Besides the fact that demand exceeds supply, about 30 to 40 percent of cocoa production is destroyed by drought, pests and diseases.

Quinoa
And what about quinoa again? Quinoa has become so hip in a short time that the price of half a kilo has risen from € 3.95 to € 7.95 in a year. The product is now unaffordable for the local population in countries that produce quinoa.

Olive oil
Olive oil will not just die out, but 2014 was an extremely bad year for the olive harvest. This is due to the bad weather in the Mediterranean. A large part of the harvest has failed and we could see that reflected in the olive oil prices.
