Has Nutella s recipe changed?! What s up with that?

Recently, there has been a real #nutellagate online. Fans are outraged that Nutella's recipe apparently just changed.

The color is slightly lighter, as fans in Germany discovered. There is more milk powder in it. Was that at the expense of the cocoa? What exactly is it?

Ferrero, the producer of Nutella, explains. We quote:'In concrete terms, in the Netherlands it is about replacing whey powder with an equivalent amount of skimmed milk powder (2.1 g/100 g of the total product). This increases the amount of skimmed milk powder in our Nutella from 6.6% to 8.7%. With this refinement, we have further improved the overall quality of the milk in Nutella while retaining the unique Nutella flavour. The amount of hazelnuts, cocoa, sugar and palm oil remains unchanged.

The only change to our Nutella is therefore the replacement of whey powder by skimmed milk powder. The Nutella recipe still contains only seven ingredients, with no dyes and no preservatives. The nutritional values also remain virtually unchanged.'

Have you noticed the change to Nutella yet?
