Making delicious oliebollen cake that is not fat

I'll admit it right away, I love oliebollen! But not everyone in the house is a fan of it. Frank doesn't really like oliebollen because they are so fat. But I have now found something with the oliebollen cake! Last weekend I made a delicious oliebollen cake in the slow cooker. Very easy, super tasty and not greasy.

Oliebollencake:the ingredients

You don't need a lot of ingredients, so that's not too bad.

  • A pack of oliebollen mix
  • 2 apples
  • half bag of raisins
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon

This is how you make an oliebollen cake in the slow-cooker

I regularly make a cake in the slow cooker and that is also very tasty, so I started working with the oliebollen cake with confidence!

  • Soak the raisins in water for half an hour
  • Peel, core and cut the apples into small pieces
  • Prepare the oliebollen dough as stated on the package. This time I had a ready-made oliebollen mix that only requires water; extremely easy so
  • Add the cinnamon while preparing the dough for the oliebollen cake
  • Drain the raisins
  • When your donut dough is ready, gently stir in the raisins and apple

Your dough is now ready to use!

  • Use baking paper in the slow cooker so that your donut cake does not stick and is easy to turn
  • Place a tea towel around the lid of the slow cooker so that the moisture does not fall back into the slow cooker but is absorbed by the tea towel
  • First 3 hours on low
  • Take out the oliebollen cake (with baking paper and all) and turn it over on the baking paper
  • After that another 1.5 hours on low

Now your donut cake is ready! You can cut it directly to eat, but you can also eat it cooled. Cut the cake from the oliebollen mix into slices, or cut into small pieces and place on a plate.

Hint :Garnish with icing sugar, or a mixture of icing sugar and cinnamon. We prefer the latter, really delicious!

The taste of oliebollencake from the slow-cooker

All four of us found the cake delicious. If you 'expect' real oliebollen then you will be a bit disappointed of course, because you will not find the fat of the oliebollen in this cake. The taste is that of oliebollen, but without the greasy touch. And that suited Frank perfectly.

Very nice to serve this oliebollen cake and delicious with coffee or tea. Especially with a little bit of powdered sugar and cinnamon on top a sweet treat and worth repeating.

Would you like to make the oliebollen cake in the oven? That's also possible!

Don't have a slow cooker, but would you like to try the oliebollen cake? Then just use your oven, that's also possible.

  • Make the oliebollen batter as indicated above
  • Let the batter rise for about 45 minutes (covered with a tea towel)
  • In the meantime, set the oven to 200° to preheat
  • Grease a cake tin
  • Put the batter in the cake tin after rising
  • Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes
