Did you also receive a letter like this from your child? About Christmas dinner at school? Or the Christmas breakfast… whatever. Very nice for the kids. But does it have to be in the busiest month of the year, right before Christmas? Secretly I think F*ck! , but of course I say 'Oh, how nice and cozy to my child. Of course! I am not such a degenerate mother that I do not give my children a nice Christmas dinner at school. I'm just not really into it myself. As if we don't already have enough to arrange.

Anyway, to help all those mothers who feel the same way and really don't know what to make, I surpassed myself with a list of Christmas snacks. Christmas snacks that are not too difficult to make and are still tasty. Not all of them came up with themselves though. Or not at all, you can see it that way. In any case, your child can still shine at school during Christmas dinner. Or breakfast.

Savory snacks for Christmas dinner at school

We start with the snacks for the Christmas dinner at school. In all shapes and sizes. They have a few things in common.

  • They are in the Christmas spirit.
  • Not difficult to make,
  • It's nice.
  • And delicious!

Child happy. Mom happy. Be ware… Healthy or unhealthy, you have to make your own choice, I only provide the inspiration and am not responsible for:

  • Nauseous babies
  • Cavities in teeth
  • Jealous (or disapproving) looks from other moms during Christmas dinner at school

1. Cucumber Christmas tree

You make the Cucumber Cherry tree by using a piece of cucumber as a stump. Then thinly slice a slice of cucumber with a cheese slicer and insert it into the stump as described above with a cocktail stick. Star on top and you are ready for Christmas dinner at school. For example, you can also use a block of cheese as a star.

2. Cucumber, cheese and sausage snacks

These snacks are also very nice for the little ones. Not too big, and loved by all children. Besides that you have no waste from the food you use, because it all fits together! A case of sustainable upbringing so to speak.

3. Strawberry and banana hat, with grape

This one is too simple for words. Cut strawberries in half, slice banana. All on a cocktail stick and a small marshmallow on top. Finished! Also nice for Christmas breakfast at school and not just for Christmas dinner of course.

4. Snowman from eggs

Boil 2 sizes of eggs, the smallest are for the top. Cut them off a little bit at the bottom so that they are flat and stand. Cocktail stick through it. Cut 2 slices of carrot in different sizes for the hat. You can make a small pointed piece of carrot as a nose and eyes and buttons with an edible marker or balsamic syrup. Your Christmas dinner for school is ready!

5. Hearty Christmas tree

Alternately sausages and cucumber strips on a skewer and a tomato on top. Easy peasy. For example, Christmas dinner at school is arranged in no time.

6. Fire arrows

A sausage on a skewer. Cut a piece of cucumber into one point, or a piece of tomato. On top and you're done!

7. Fire arrows with puff pastry

Carola came up with these puff pastry rockets. Long sausages on a cocktail stick. Remove puff pastry from the freezer and let it thaw. If it is just not completely thawed, cut it into thin strips. Let it thaw further. Then you turn the puff pastry around the sausage. Brush some egg yolk over it and bake in the oven for 20 minutes. As an arrowhead you can use bell pepper, but also cucumber, tomato, cheese or something similar. Stick the arrows in a potato and off you go to Christmas dinner at school!

8. Reindeer sandwiches

Cut hearts out of white bread. Sticking out is even easier. Top with salami. A nose made of half a tomato (or a smartie), eyes made of licorice and two pretzels for ears. How sweet! You can of course also take sweet toppings if you want. It just depends on what they want to eat for Christmas dinner at school.

9. Star toast

Bake toasties, cut out stars with a star shape and that mama is ready!

10. Strawberry Santa

Made from strawberry and whipped cream. I myself would use colored pearls as eyes. Just a little more Christmassy for the school Christmas dinner.

11. Christmas tree pita bread

Cut pita breads into 5 pieces. You put a pretzel in it as a trunk. Spread with something tasty. Cheese spread or jam or something like that. And then a suitable topping (paprika or sprinkles).

12. Banana stick

Half a banana topped with a strawberry and a bar of marshmallow. Eyes with edible marker and nose of a smartie. Be careful, you have to make this right in advance otherwise the banana will turn brown completely. No face of course for that Christmas dinner at school, what will the other mothers think 😉 .

13. Kiwi Christmas tree

A topper, this Christmas tree of kiwi. And guaranteed a success for Christmas dinner at school. Or for Christmas breakfast, that is of course also possible. Making it speaks for itself I think.

14. Happy feet penguin

The question is whether this will be eaten a lot, since it is made with olives and not every child likes this. Easy to make, and fun! Cut an olive in half (not quite!) and fold it around the mozzarella ball. Cut the feet and nose from carrot. Foot is simply a slice of carrot with a quarter cut out. You use that quarter for the nose. Olive on top and poke through. Ready!

But because of the taste it might be better for your own Christmas dinner than at school.

15. Poffertjes sandwich

Get ready-made poffertjes. Cut strawberries into slices. Spread dairy spread on the poffertjes (whipped cream is also possible, of course). Top with strawberries, stick through and tie a ribbon. Very Merry Christmas for the school Christmas dinner!

16. Star buns

Stick stars out of white bread. Butter it up and then some sweets. Can be a kind of disco dip, but sprinkles or mice are also tasty. Colored straw inside. Voila.

17. Fruit fire arrows

I think these speak for themselves!

18. Reindeer sandwiches

Mini sandwiches, cut in half and topped with a thicker filling such as some meatloaf or something. In any case, it's nice when the sandwich is 'open'. Pretzels for ears prick half a tomato for a nose and edible eyes. The Christmas dinner at school can't go wrong like this!

19. Christmas tree bowl

Simply place anything and everything in the shape of a Christmas tree on a tray. Also possible of course!

20. Savory Wands

These savory wands are always a hit. Add an asterisk with a plug and you are already completely in the Christmas spirit.

21. Poinsettia sandwich

Lightly fry the sandwich in the pan, or toast lightly. With a large star shape sticking out. Only the top one is cut out from the inside with a smaller mold so that you can see the topping through it. Top with dairy spread and some chives, cucumber or finely chopped bell pepper. Tasty savory snack for Christmas dinner at school.

Sweet snacks for Christmas dinner or Christmas breakfast at school

Daughter came home here with the letter in her hand and the message 'It can be sweet too mom † Well… then I know what she chooses.

22. Snowmen

Highly recommended. Just about every child likes this. In addition, they are very easy to make. You stack 2 cream puffs on top of each other, put a cocktail stick through them. Marshmallow on top and half a strawberry as a hat. Draw a face on the marshmallow and you are ready with this Christmas snack for Christmas dinner at school.

23. Snowman on sled

Maybe a little too sweet, but very cool. I only see happy children's faces 😉 . Okay, 2 marshmallows on a wafer. Again a cocktail stick through it. Two candy canes underneath (wet them so that they stick to the waffle afterwards, or use icing). Edible marker for the eyes and the like and licorice (with an Oreo cookie) as a hat. You use lollipop sticks for the arms (you can make black with the edible marker).

24. Reindeer from marshmallow

Marshmallow on a lollipop stick for Christmas dinner. Well before you go to school, melt chocolate in a bain marie and dip the marshmallow in it. Let it dry. Eyes of small marshmallows (or edible marker) and nose of a smartie. For antlers, use pretzels that you cut in half. Red ribbon and you're done.

25. Christmas cookies with nutella

Last year I wrote a recipe about baking Christmas cookies with Nutella. They are easy to make in advance, give a festive feeling and are deliciously unhealthy 😛 .

26. Rudolph

Jewish cakes with edible marker and a smartie as a nose. Use some icing, melted chocolate or edible glue to secure it. In no time at all for Christmas breakfast or Christmas dinner at school.

27. Cake pop olaf

Making cake pops with candy melts, eyes, nose and mouth with an edible marker and a ribbon around the stick. Finished. Of course it takes a little longer to make the cake pops, but you can do it in advance. Blush on the cheeks? Apparently there is color powder on the market.

28. Christmas tree brownie

Also a piece of cake, this brownie Christmas tree. You can also use chocolate cake or gingerbread if you wish. To be picked up in the supermarket. Nice and easy, we did it last year for Christmas dinner at school. Been a hit. Cut into a triangle. Candy Canes in it as a trunk and decorate with edible marker and/or pearls. You can also use red pull drop for this.

29. Stroopwafel stars

Stick a star out of the stroopwafels using asterisks. Stick in it. Dip in liquid chocolate and add disco dip. Draw a licorice lace around it and your festive star is ready!

30. Penguin of marshmallows

Melt chocolate in a pan or in the microwave. Dip the marshmallow upside down and then set it upright on a plate (use a cocktail stick to help). Let all marshmallows cool in the fridge for 15 minutes until the chocolate is hard. Melt leftover chocolate again. Cut the smarties in half and carefully dip into the chocolate along with the edible eyes and stick. Are you ready for the school Christmas dinner.

31. Melted Olaf biscuit

Fantastic too, the look of these cookies 😉 . Biscuits from a pack, icing on them in a whimsical shape. Stick a mini marshmallow in it and sprinkle the rest with an edible marker. Super fun for Christmas dinner at school or Christmas breakfast!

32. Complete Christmas town in a jiffy

The houses are made of waffles. In this case there are ice cream scoops in between (also nice as dessert at your own Christmas dinner and not just for Christmas dinner at school). For Christmas dinner at school I would leave out the ice cream 😉 . With some edible marker you can make beautiful windows on the waffles. With some marzipan (or fondant) you can craft the trunks of the mushrooms. Raspberries on top and your mushrooms are ready. You can also make Christmas trees yourself, but I would personally just buy them 😉 . Powdered sugar and some coconut shavings on top…. and you have conjured up a whole city! It's not that difficult.

33. Strawberry pancake stick

Spread the pancakes alternately with jam or Nutella. Cut through and then thread on a long skewer, alternating with a strawberry.

And if these aren't enough, Kidsproof also has a few for you.
