The basic vinaigrette recipe

The vinaigrette recipe is very simple:mix 1 teaspoon of mustard with 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of the oil of your choice. Then, it's up to you to add your personal touch to this sauce by choosing your vinegar. For example, you can opt for a wine vinegar, a balsamic vinegar, a sherry vinegar, a cider vinegar, a raspberry vinegar… Choose it according to your tastes and the dish you want to season. For the choice of oil, also take into account your tastes and the dish. Be aware that some oils have a fairly neutral taste (this is the case for example with sunflower oil or rapeseed oil) while others have a very pronounced flavor, such as walnut oil for example .

To make your homemade vinaigrette a success every time, there are a few tips. To mix the ingredients well, for example, and therefore obtain a perfect emulsion, it is best to use a fork or a mini-whisk. You can also prepare your vinaigrette in advance and store it in the refrigerator in an airtight bottle. Just before using it, all you have to do is shake it several times to mix the ingredients again. Finally, do not hesitate to add herbs or spices to your vinaigrette to spice it up and give it more flavor. On the spice side, you can opt for a touch of curry or chilli, for example. As for herbs, try parsley, coriander, basil… Also think of onions, shallots or garlic, which bring maximum flavor and enhance the taste of your salad in the blink of an eye. Finally, for a lighter dressing, simply replace some of the oil with water!
