We tested Papelli:the biggest pizza in Paris

Why we wanted to test

The idea of a giant pizza had amused us, and we were not disappointed, because beyond the Guinness book side, or Epic Meal Time, it's a great address where we work on quality as much as quantity. For us, it all started with a small plate of antipasti (€13) that we shared with two people. Nice surprise:the grissinis are irregular, and that's normal because like all the breads here, they are homemade and there they were still lukewarm. Good starting point.

The antipasti plate is a bit like a job interview, make or break. Be careful, we weren't going to let ourselves be fooled by low-end over-salted charcuterie (not because some don't mind), OK on that side, everything is fine, it's fresh and tasty. Then devour the mini stuffed peppers and candied onions. Then comes the time for the ultimate test:the mozzarella di Bufala. We have seen so many tasteless Bulfala mozzarella sold at exorbitant prices. No, the Bufala must be long in the mouth and you must finish on notes of hay or, more precisely, on a little taste of the stable, you must feel all the rusticity of the animal. Mention bien-bien for this one, we end on the right notes without too much force. We are in France, we still have to spare the susceptibility of the Parisian palaces anyway.

So what about this 60cm pizza?

Yohann before launching his pizzeria did HEC then he trained his father in this adventure. He swears that for him the first fight is quality, that everything is made on site, that he only uses Italian flour. And he only cuts the charcuterie when he makes the pizza to keep it fresh. We can start to believe it after our first experience.

The card plays rather finesse on many of the pizzas we find vegetables. The Parma, for example, is garnished with peppers and zucchini. Our giant pizza will be separated into two areas (and normally this pizza is for three people). When she arrives we are impressed:she occupies the entire small table. And we are really pleasantly surprised not to be in the big food spirit, it's very subtle, the vegetables wink at us. They interrupt the cheese-bread-ham program, like an interlude. Variations, finesse. Good, very good even, but with the best will in the world, we will not be able to finish…. No problem, everything is planned, and we are offered to make us a doggy bag, in this case here in the form of a Pizza box, it is more practical. That's a very good spirit. Filled, to please we still tasted the pana cotta, nice but nothing more. Ha and by the way, yes of course the pizzas come in two sizes, you don't have to take a gigantic one.
