The objective of the Grandmas Project:to film the cooking recipes of grandmothers from all over the world!

The Grandmas Project, under the slogan "sharing the world's most delicious heritage", aims to bring together grandmother's recipes from all over the world on a single interactive platform.

This project was developed by Jonas Parienté, a young French director and digital strategist. The idea came to him ten years ago when he started making a documentary about his two grandmothers, one Polish and the other Egyptian. In an interview with the Huffington Post, Jonas said:"I then said to myself that what mattered to me was to transmit the memory, the culture, and the testimonies of my grandmother to others, and potentially to the generations after”.

By taking advantage of the potential of new technologies and social networks, the young man hopes to encourage other people to share real pieces of life. He begins to visualize a website that “would be a sort of repository of cooking recipes, where each recipe ultimately comes to provide an entry point into a larger story. The recipes with all the historical and cultural charge they imply, this is the great interest of Jonas who sees far beyond the simple culinary aspect of the project.

The idea would be to make videos of grandmothers concocting small dishes and sharing them with others. Each user could trace their own story or enjoy the recipes of an Italian, Indian or Japanese grandmother, without even having met her.

Jonas Parienté intends to produce a first season of "Grandmas Project", containing 30 recipes filmed with an 8-minute format. For now, only experienced directors or film students will be able to participate in this collaborative work.

The project, seeking funding, is visible on Kickstarter, the crowdfunding site that has just been launched in France.
