The jackfruit arrives on our plates

Cultivated in tropical regions, jackfruit is an exotic fruit and is gaining more and more success in France. With its yellow and consistent flesh, it gives off a smell of mango and pineapple. Inside, the fruit contains seeds similar to chestnuts that are eaten roasted or boiled. To take full advantage of its vitamin and antioxidant content, it is advisable to taste jackfruit raw and not cooked.

Good to know:it is the largest fruit in the world, because it can weigh up to 35 kilos! So the only downside to Jackfruit is that it can be complicated to cut and prepare.

Vegetarians love it

Jackfruit has become one of the favorite foods for vegetarians. It is a vegetable protein with a fibrous texture and very rich in nutrients. When cooked, it looks surprisingly like pork and chicken. This fruit is perfect for vegetarians nostalgic for Pulled Pork or burgers!

But then, where can you buy it? It can be found on sale in most Asian grocery stores, but still not in supermarkets and very rarely in restaurants.
