Tabasco celebrates its 150th anniversary with a collector's bottle

For some of you, hot sauce deserves the same respect and attention as a bottle of fine wine. If you feel concerned by this description, the latest special edition Tabasco should make you happy, at least for its pretty exterior.

Indeed, the hot sauce arrives in a mini replica champagne bottle. It even features the gold foil that usually covers the top of sparkling wine bottles.

And it looks like it's not just the exterior that would be different from the classic Tabasco.

This special sauce is made from tabasco peppers grown on Avery Island in Louisiana, where Tabasco is based. The peppers in this bottle are chosen for their "superior color, texture as well as robustness." The peppers were crushed with salt and then aged in barrels like a refined spirit. Some have stayed there for up to 15 years. (While Tabasco typically ages its peppers for three years.)

It still costs 35 dollars a bottle, so we hope it's original and above all good. Still, if you really like hot sauces, it should be worth a try. This is obviously a limited edition.
