The best pastry chef in the world is a Frenchwoman!

Our beautiful country is well known for its exceptional gastronomy and there is one sub-category in particular in which the chefs excel:pastry. In 2017, France won the Pastry World Cup for the 8th time thanks to an ultra-worked chocolate sculpture that represented a drummer and a guitarist in action. This year, one of our professionals was crowned the best restaurant pastry chef in the world, or more precisely the best pastry chef! Christelle Brua, 41, is the first woman to receive this prestigious title (it's worth a double "Cocorico" there, isn't it?) awarded by Les Grandes tables du monde, which brings together 174 establishments on the planet. Oh yes anyway ! The pastry chef delights the taste buds of customers at Le Pré Catelan, the 3-star restaurant located in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne.

Awesome past awards

One of its specialties is none other than the apple in puffed sugar, caramel ice cream, sparkling sugar and cider. Its mere sight is enough to whet the appetite (judge for yourself below). “Christelle Brua has managed to create a strong identity, recognizable among a thousand, which today inspires a whole generation of chefs “, explained David Sinapian, president of the Grandes tables du monde during the 64th congress of the association which was held on October 9, 2018 in Marrakech. The pastry chef already has an impressive track record:she has in turn won the distinctions of "pastry chef of the year 2008" by the Champérard guide, "pastry chef of the year 2009" by Le Chef magazine and "best pastry chef of the year by Gault&Millau in 2015. We hope for her that the success story has only just begun... Hats off to the pastry chef!
