Amsterdam has the first Dutch vegan supermarket

After a successful crowdfunding campaign with more than 200 investors, Vegan Fresco has succeeded in establishing the first vegan supermarket in the Netherlands. The supermarket with only vegan and vegetable products has opened its doors at 23 Jan Evertsenstraat in Amsterdam. The Vegan Fresco supermarket offers the largest range of vegan and plant-based products in the Netherlands.

Green electricity, no plastic bags and electric delivery services
Vegan Fresco has chosen to furnish the store as sustainably as possible with, for example, an extra heat-insulating layer on the ceiling and electric heating. In addition, all lighting is LED and they use high-tech energy-efficient cooling solutions. Fresco explains:“With regard to the range, we strive for a range of products and manufacturers that take environmentally efficient production, packaging and logistics into account. We use green energy, do not use plastic bags, we clean with responsible cleaning products, our waste flows are completely separated and we will work with electric delivery services.”

Vegan Fresco Webshop
Fresco reached 144% of its target in a crowdfunding campaign last fall. Thanks to the target amount of 150,000 euros, it is now also possible to open a webshop so that the whole of the Netherlands can order Vegan Fresco products and have them delivered. “At the moment we are concentrating on our supermarket in Amsterdam. After that, we will start working on the webshop as soon as possible, so that people outside of Amsterdam can also experience Vegan Fresco”, says founder Fresco.
