Recipe pita bread with tzatziki

It is the yogurt of athletes and connoisseurs, it has its origin in the land of the gods:yogurt in the Greek way. Known for its high protein content and full flavor, this yogurt is the main ingredient in tzatziki.

Pita bread with tzatziki

Ingredients for 8 servings:

For the pita breads:

500 g flour
15 grams of yeast
300 ml lukewarm water
1 tsp salt
3 tbsp olive oil
Sesame and oregano to sprinkle

For the tzatziki:

200 g Greek yogurt
1/2 cucumber
2 cloves of garlic
Fresh rosemary
fresh thyme
Salty
Pepper

Preparation:

Dissolve the yeast in the water. Add the rest of the ingredients and knead into a firm dough. Let rise for an hour under a towel.

Meanwhile, put the Greek yogurt in a bowl. Peel the cucumber and grate coarsely or cut into fine julienne. Salt the cucumber and wait for the cucumber juice to settle.
Meanwhile, crush the garlic cloves and place them in the yogurt.

Place the cucumber in a clean cloth and squeeze out the juice. Add the dried cucumber to the yogurt and stir. Let it soak in for a while and season with the herbs, pepper and salt.

Now divide the finished dough into eight portions and shape into balls. Cover and let rise for another 10 minutes.

Roll out each ball with a rolling pin into an oval disk. Brush with a little water and add oregano or sesame seeds.

Bake on a greased, floured baking tray in a 250°C oven for 8 to 10 minutes until the pita has puffed up.
